How to Choose Your Boudoir Photographer

So you are thinking about a Boudoir Session, wanting to fall in love with your body or boost your confidence? Amazing! You are in the right place! In this blog I will go over the things you should consider when booking a photographer to capture these images for you. And questions you should ask yourself or potential photographer/team you are looking at investing in. After all you should be viewing this kind of session as just that, an investment.

Style

Your photographer's style is crucial in capturing the essence of your beauty. Look through their portfolio and see if their style resonates with you. Do their images make you feel confident and vibrant? Can you see yourself in some of the photos?

Personality

Your boudoir photographer should have a personality that complements yours. They should be friendly, easy to work with, and make you feel comfortable during the shoot. A great photographer is not just skilled, but also personable. If they have a Facebook group go check it out, you want to get a real ‘feel’ for what they offer and what vibe they have. Being such an intimate shoot, you want to make sure that this person is someone that you feel that you would be comfortable with. And if you are still uncertain set up a call with them to see if you click.

Experience

Nothing beats experience when it comes to boudoir photography. An experienced photographer knows how to create the perfect ambiance, pose you in the most flattering way, and make you feel at ease during the shoot. Don't settle for less. How long have they been professionally in business & what experience do they have? I ask this because I know for one that it takes years to build up a consistency in creating full galleries that reflect the same quality. In this form of photography, most ladies don’t want to feel that they will only get a couple of images that they will love. But in reality, they will show only their best work on their sites but in reality only a few images may of been ‘that’ good in a full gallery. Do you feel confident that the quality of their work is consistent across their portfolio and about what you are paying for?

Testimonials

Reviews from previous clients can give you valuable insights into the photographer's work ethic and professionalism. Look for photographers with glowing reviews from satisfied clients.

Pricing

Boudoir photography can be expensive, but it's worth investing in a photographer who provides high-quality images and a great experience. Look for a photographer who offers packages that fit your budget and or has payment terms that will work for you whilst still delivering a high experience. Make sure you know exactly what you are paying for. Is it just a walk in have a shoot and walk out? What is covered in the session fee? Or for those who have a ‘free’ session fee or you ‘win’ a session, what does that actually mean? Have they given you access to their full pricing?

For myself, my Boudoir sessions are so much more than just a photoshoot. I have carefully planned these for years to make sure that I create an incredible experience for my clients. You won’t just rock up and have some photos and off you go. Every single step has been carefully thought about. From our first interaction on a booking call where I can explain the process and what to expect, and you can make sure I am the right photographer for you, to our pre consultation where I spend an hour with you in studio discussing and planning your session to make sure that you get everything you want out of the experience. I understand that each client is different and unique. I understand that women do these sessions for different reasons and I understand that it’s not something that women do all the time, sometimes it may be a once in a lifetime thing. So I want to make sure that your session is planned with you, for you to make sure that you get everything you are needing and wanting out of it at that time in your life.

Of course it’s great to get a ‘good deal’ but sometimes you need to think about WHY someone is cheaper.

By keeping these factors in mind, you'll be able to find a boudoir photographer who will help you feel confident, beautiful, and empowered during your shoot. Don't settle for less - choose a photographer who you feel confident with and that you feel will capture the best version of you.
